Maintenance Assistant

Summary

Dauphin County Library System is seeking a full-time efficient maintenance assistant. The successful candidate will travel between all eight libraries in Dauphin County for general maintenance and minor repair needs. Minor repairs include but are not limited to, basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry and painting. Additional indoor tasks include, set up and tear down of meeting room furniture, as well as, moving materials, furniture, equipment. Mowing, pruning shrubs, weeding and snow/ice removal are a few of the outdoor tasks for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year related experience
  • Requires current and valid driver’s license
  • This position requires operating a Dauphin County Library System vehicle, therefore the insurance carrier requires a minimum of three years of driving experience
  • Ability to lift or move 100 lbs. assisted and up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability to bend, climb and work from ladders (6 ft. step and 20 ft. extension)
  • Requires written communication and computer use
  • Ability to work independently and in group while maintaining effective communications

Rate of Pay

$15.40 per hour


Schedule

Full-Time Position at East Shore Area Library has a schedule of Monday thru Friday 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, but can vary depending on items needing to be completed at various library locations.

Public Services Assistant

Summary

Dauphin County Library System is seeking full-time public services assistants at Madeline L. Olewine Memorial Library and East Shore Area Library. The public services assistant provides exceptional customer service in person, on the phone and email. The successful public services assistant uses computer software for circulation of materials and offers basic reference service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Training or experience with computer keyboarding and basic office software.
  • One-year experience dealing with the public.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. unassisted to place materials on high and low shelves.
  • Ability to reach and bend to place books on shelves, kneeling and sitting on the floor during tasks.

Rate of Pay

$9.55 per hour

Full-Time Position at Madeline L. Olewine Memorial Library has the schedule of:

Week 1: Monday 3:15 PM – 8:15 PM, Tuesday and Wednesday 9:15 AM – 6:45 PM, Thursday 9:15 AM – 6:15 PM, Friday 11:15 AM – 5:15 PM

Week 2: Monday 2:15 PM – 8:15 PM, Tuesday and Wednesday 9:15 AM – 6:45 PM, Thursday 9:15 AM – 6:15 PM, Saturday 9:15 AM – 2:15 PM

 

Full-Time Position at East Shore Area Library has the schedule of:

Week 1: Monday 1:00 PM – 9:15 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Friday 9:00 AM – 5:15 PM

Week 2: Monday 1:00 PM – 9:15 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM – 5:15 PM

Week 3: Sunday 9:00 AM – 5:15 PM, Monday 1:00 PM – 9:15 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Library Manager

Summary

Dauphin County Library System is seeking full time Library Manager for the Madeline L. Olewine Memorial Library. The successful candidate will be the primary liaison between The Library and the community it serves, developing community partnerships and providing staff direction to ensure an exceptional user experience. This leadership position promotes and interprets the programs, activities, and policies of The Library for their team, providing mentorship and motivation to their staff and volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • American Library Association accredited MLS degree or MLIS degree recognized by The Office of Commonwealth Libraries / PA Department of Education
  • Two years’ management experience required, or three years increased supervisory experience. Customer Service experience (Public Library setting preferred).
  • Technology experience required.
  • Requires independent transportation for travel to libraries, programs, and outreach locations.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted to place materials on high and low shelves.

Rate of Pay

Annual salary range of $33,000-$38,000.


Schedule

Full-Time Position at Madeline L. Olewine Memorial Library including some daytime, evenings, and weekends.

Graphic Artist Assistant

Summary

Dauphin County Library System is seeking a part-time graphic artist assistant to create and produce page layouts designed to educate the community about programs and other resources available at The Library. The successful candidate will work with The Library’s brand standards and guidelines to design and prepare layouts for promotional materials using the Adobe Creative Cloud of software. This software includes, but is not limited to, InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. This position also assists the supervisor and collaborates with department staff on projects which focus on outreach activities throughout Dauphin County communities.

  • Certificate or Associates Degree in Graphic Design
  • One-year experience graphic design.
  • One-year experience using InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
